16th June - Tourism Graduation 2023
On 16th June, some of the second-year Tourism students, accompanied by their families, friends, and teachers, celebrated their Graduation Ceremony.
Javier Sánchez, 1st-year Tourism student, conducted the ceremony with a great sense of humour and had really kind words for both students and teachers. Besides, he took the opportunity to claim the importance of vocational education, and reminded us that although it has adapted to become more and more attractive, it needs to be strengthened to meet the challenges ahead.
Then, Lucia Rodríguez, tutor of the Guide, Information and Tourist Assistance addressed the audience with a special message for each and every one of the graduating students.
Later on, two of the students, Rosalía and Enrique, entertained us by commenting on lots of anecdotes... Our shock when we removed our face masks, Carnival and Arturo, their comfi and wheeled chairs in their 1st-year classroom! 2nd school year: "Hey, what happened to our last year chairs? We want them back!"
There was also a surprise! On behalf of the group, they gave the teachers a sweet, literally, little present and diplomas based on... dear me, what a variety of reasons! You know what, we didn't know that you had been paying so much attention to us all... You guys nailed it!
There were also lots of photos of different activities and side trips throughout these two years together... beautiful, precious memories for us all.
Incidentally, Belén Gómez, María Rita Masid, and Gisela Ocampo also addressed some kind words to the graduands, and Álvaro, one of the students, took the opportunity to thank the teachers.
The ceremony reached its climax with the sash distribution, an exciting moment for all the audience. It was moving for us all, because as Javier very well said, it was a hotchpotch of mixed feelings, a mixture of happiness because our students have successfully finished their studies, and sadness because some of them are leaving us.
We're getting a bit emotional, aren't we? Well, the ceremony was over, and it was time for an "ágape", not "pinchos"... accurately speaking!
In one of your slides guys, you quoted Machado "Traveler, there is no road; you make your own path as you walk", and we were very lucky to have walked along the path with you all. This trip is over, but we're sure we'll soon see you successfully leading guided visits and tours.
Congratulations and best of luck 🍀🍀🍀!!!
